THE BASICS:
Nohegan 2007 is an art making weekend inspired by both the Skowhegan School and the summer camp experience. This year it will take place Memorial Day Weekend: FRIDAY, MAY 23 through TUESDAY, MAY 27 at McKinney State Falls Park. Like last year, we will be showcasing any and all work at a community BBQ at the park on Monday (Memorial Day). This will be a fun day to invite people down to check it out.
This is the third year of Nohegan. For those of you who aren't familiar, last year we had a blast. Grillin', chillin', art making... in whatever order that pleases you. It's about community, really, and sharing. Sharing happens when people donate their time and creative energy by hosting a workshop of their choice. These workshops can be as practical or impractical as you want. They can be conceptual or art-based or not. In 2006. I hosted a workshop on how to make cakes inside of orange rinds over a fire... it isn't on my resume, but I found it rewarding nonetheless.
Click here for a list of last year's workshops.

This year Nohegan will cost $40. For less than a sushi meal of decent quality (incl .sake) you can buy yourself 4 nights of priceless memories in a state park.
A BUNK that's right bunk a.k.a. wooden plank in one of six screened shelters. There are eight beds per shelter and six shelters total. If you want to gather together a cabin of your own devising, you may, but you need to pay in full, up front, $320.
Click here for a look at campground and "screened shelters". Please note that you must bring your own bedding there are no mattresses provided. Each shelter has a hot & cold water sink, ceiling fan, picnic table (inside and out) and one 15 amp duplex electrical outlet. Cooking grill & fire ring are outside. Pets are NOT permitted in the area. No tents, RV's or trailers are allowed outside the shelters.
DAILY ACCESS TO GROUP DINING HALL: We'll have the dining hall for the enirety of our stay. You will have access to it from 8am to 9pm daily. There is a refrigerator and kitchen for you to use, which should make food planning a snap if you don't dig "camping." It will be locked at night, so you can leave artwork there. You might also host your workshop there.
UNLIMITED S'MORES DURING MOVIE NIGHTS: 'nuff said (bring your own stick).
ART BBQ COOKOUT MEAL: This usually works out... if we don't get enough people to sign up, I might collect a few bux... but at this early juncture, I feel postive.
HOT: It is usually frickin' hot.
DAY CAMPERS & MEMORIAL DAY ART BBQ: Invite all your friends that aren't campin' overnight o join us during the day.
COMMITTEES: Sounds scary, but it's not. Just gonna dole out some of the organizational stuff to those who are interested. Committees will include Talent Show, Nightly Movies, Art BBQ. More info on this later.
SAT NITE TALENT SHOW, REDUX: This should excite you. We had a great time last year. Rumoured to appear: Los Baetles.
• You will pay your own park entry fees when you arrive ($4 per person, per day/night). Just let the park ranger know how many nights you're staying.
• Only TWO cars per screened shelter are allowed. Plan accordingly. You will pay extra for additional vehicles.
• You may only cosume alcohol in and around your cabins discreetly it's the McKinney way. From their website: "It is an offense to consume or display an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a public place." So now you know.
PLEASE NOTE: FEES ARE DUE NO LATER THAN APRIL 23rd!
